The Star of the Sea Sports Program offers a
variety of opportunities for boys and girls in 3rd through 8th grade. Sports
include volleyball, basketball, cross country, and track & field. Teams
participate in the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) league, which is operated
by Catholic Charities. Star of the Sea Sports is a parish sponsored program and
is open to children who live or attend ANY school within the parish boundaries.
The Star
of the Sea Sports Program is a not-for-profit 100% volunteer organization that
operates solely on funds generated by fees, fundraisers, and donations. It
receives absolutely no subsidies from
the church or school. Participation fees cover the cost of equipment, balls,
uniforms, trophies, league registration, tournaments, etc. A limited number of
scholarships are available upon request. |

As mentioned
above, grades three through eight have the opportunity to participate in various
CYO sports. These teams are under the authority of Star of the Sea Parish and
are organized and maintained by the Parish Sports Committee.
Any teams
representing the Star of the Sea community in any other sports league other than
CYO, are not considered "official" school or parish teams and are organized and
maintained by individual parents of children in the school, rather than the
Sports Committee. However, these non-CYO teams are supported in spirit, even
though they are considered independent from Star of the Sea Parish or School. Non-CYO teams do not have gym privileges. |
