Weekly Letter (Feb 23, 2015)

 Dear Parents,

Once again it is time to get your penny jars ready, today we begin our annual Pennies for Patients program at Star of the Sea!  When we began this program nine years ago, I thought how wonderful it would be if we could raise $500.00.  Nine years later we have raised over $27,000 dollars to fight leukemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers.  With your support I am hoping that this year we will pass the $30,000 mark.

I love Star of the Sea.  I feel that it is a gift and a privilege to work here. You and your children have taught me so much about kindness, generosity and caring about others. When I see them so joyfully bringing in their coin boxes and I think about how much money that we have raised, I have no doubt that together we can make Leukemia and Lymphoma a thing of the past.  During this Lenten Season let us remember all those suffering from blood cancer.  I firmly believe that with prayer and research a cure will be found!

Margaret Mead once said: Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.  Let’s bring in our change and together we can change the world!

Great things are happening at Star!
