While the classroom day begins at 8 am and ends at 2:45 pm for K-3 and 3:00 for 4-8 grades, a great deal of learning occurs after the dismissal bell rings. At Star of the Sea, our dedicated faculty and parent community have partnered to create a well-rounded and innovative enrichment program that our students are truly excited about. Star Students can participate in a variety of learning activities, including:
Star of the Sea offers a Mandarin Chinese language K -8 enrichment program. Spanish class is offered to our middle school students.
With a faculty advisor, students participate in writing, editing and publishing the school newspaper in the form of an online web-zine.
Children’s Choir practices after school and is open to students in grades 2-8.
Ballet and creative movement are offered after school to students in preschool to 3rd grade.
In addition to the school organized sports teams, tennis lessons are available to interested students in our school yard.
Science and Math:
In addition to traditional science and math club activities, Star also offers a Lego class designed to introduce students to important math and engineering principles. We also have a chess club that meets weekly.
Our Extended Care program begins when the dismissal bell rings and ends at 6:00 pm. Star of the Sea provides a place where children can enjoy supervised play and participate in homework sessions in a safe, nurturing environment on the school grounds.
