Volunteering is an integral part of the Star of the Sea community. Not only is it an opportunity for us to contribute our time and talents in a meaningful way, it’s also a fun outlet for socializing with fellow parents while setting a positive example for our children.
Our families are one of the cornerstones of Star of the Sea. Parental initiative, participation, and cooperation have helped to make Star of the Sea one of the top schools in the Archdiocese. In the past, our parents have reinforced student safety by introducing the yard duty system, they have brought in healthier choices for school hot lunch and snack sales, raised funds toward a planned new Science Lab, and made our school’s 100th anniversary a centennial celebration to remember.
And there is so much more we can do – every little bit helps. For instance: you can volunteer in your child’s classroom, coach your child’s sports team, chair or participate in any of the various committees to improve our school or raise funds, or attend the monthly Parents Club meetings to stay informed and involved.
All parents/guardians are asked to contribute a minimum of 30 hours of service per family, per year. One-parent households are asked to contribute 15 hours per year.
