Weekly Letter (Mar 9, 2015)

Dear Parents,

Last week was very different from the last several weeks. Mr. Gallagher and the 8th graders were off campus for a few days at the graduation retreat so it was a bit quieter than usual. I spent three days at Our Lady of Loretto School in Novato on an accreditation visit. It’s always nice to visit another school, but just like childhood vacations my family took, the best part is always coming home.

And though I was not here for those three days last week, I did keep in touch. Star also had a quiet week. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say a “typical” week. After over a month of media frenzy, things seemed to calm down a great deal here. As I’ve said before I don’t object to family fights, they are a part of life and they often help relationships in the long run. But airing our grievances in public has been very disruptive to our school days.

I truly hope that we can get back to Star being Star. It is counter-productive to have cameras and reporters all over the place. It seems that everyone has expressed his or her concerns and heard everyone else’s too.  Finishing the year without demonstrations, without worrying about what will be in the Chronicle or on a blog, would be so nice.

Again I will share a prayer with you. Please take it to heart and let’s all do what we can to bring back our family spirit.

God made us a family

We need one another

We love one another

We work together

We play together

We worship together

 Together we use God’s word

Together we grow in Christ

Together we love all God’s children

Together we serve God

Together we hope for heaven

These are our hopes and ideals

Help us to attain them

O God, through Jesus Christ our Lord

Be at Peace,

Terrence Hanley
