Weekly Letter (Apr 27, 2015)

Dear Parents ,

A few weeks ago at a Parent Club meeting I referred to myself as “just some idiot from Holy Name.” This remark was not meant to disparage the education I got at my alma mater or to convey some false sense of modesty about my own skills. If anything it was meant as an expression of joy about the current state of my life. I was given the opportunity to get a good Catholic education at Holy Name, Sacred Heart and USF and for that I thank my Dad. There were siblings, friends and teachers who believed in me and encouraged me. I thank them too.

Yet, I am sometimes amazed at how blessed I am. I have a loving wife, two kids who are both serving the community (yes, teaching is very different from the USMC, but both are serving). My beautiful daughter-in-law gave birth to my first grandchild three weeks ago and I work at a great school.

God’s gifts are many and constant. Please take the time during your busy week to pause and reflect on the gifts that God has sent to you: your spouse, children, friends, a great job (if applicable), those friends who you’ve known since high school, and the great gift of God’s love.
