Dear Parents and Students,
I hope you all had a restful Thanksgiving break and are ready to get back to the joys of school for the next several weeks. I was blessed with the presence of my son, his wife and their son at Thanksgiving, so I haven’t spent much time thinking about a letter. What follows is a report from Tracy Lee and Becky Amaya about our Gala. Thank you all and God bless you all.
The 3rd Annual Stella Maris Gala was a huge success with wine flowing, folks dancing, a lively auction and wonderful people being honored. On top of all of that fun, we raised unprecedented revenues since the Gala’s inception (10+ years, including when it was just a wine tasting event) of $82k!!!. Profits hit an all- time high and with the help of everyone’s auction donations, generous bidding and matching gifts, we made our goal of $60k in profit !!!! The majority of these funds will go towards Star’s Connected Classroom project and ensuring that Star is THE most technologically advanced school in the SF Archdiocese!
But it takes a village and none of this would have been possible without the help of the following folks: Bob Regan, Maria Polyzos, Janet & Ed Wong, Riko Knight, Christina Wong, Kathy Cheun, Janice Moon, Jessie Holcer, Kathleen Lee, Meghan Parent, Stephanie Belfiore, Eva Kuo, Betty Assefa, John Espinola, Adonne Loggins, Christine Sellai, Crichton Kittredge, Celina Sweet, Katie Nguyen, Vy Le, Brady Fell, Eric Young, Jason Kwan, Susie Allison-Litton, Nancy Bye, Elle Novak, Leanne Barassi, Anna Lee, Leli Kwan, Maritza Gray, Bill Reynolds, Corie Leep-Wymer, Aaron Wymer, Carol Slade, all the Room Parents, several Star alums and the 7th / 8th grade volunteers, but especially Adrianna Ruiz and Maya Kuo (6thgrade) for staying late to set up Friday evening.
Star is so very lucky and blessed to have such a great community! So thank you, thank you, thank you! And a special thanks to Becky and Tracy.
FACTOID: Back in 2005, net profits were $15k. We’re now at $60k! That’s a 400% growth in just 10 years! AMAZING !!!
